6 SHAVING HACKS FOR MEN

1) Hair conditioner makes for a great shaving cream, especially for sensitive skin and areas

Not only does it protect your skin but it also softens the hair. I’m not sure about the money that you’ll save as it mostly depends on how much you spend on your shaving cream. But you must definitely give it a try because—hacks are always to each his own!

2) Wetness is your razor’s worst enemy

It also directly effects the sharpness of your razor. So when you rinse your razor clean, make sure you dry it completely before the next use. You also get anti-corrosive agents in the market which when you use adds weeks to your blade’s life.

3) While shaving leave the cream on your face for 5 minutes

This is a good hack to avoid any razor burn which—let’s face it—is the nastiest thing ever after a nick.  The shaving cream will not only ready the hair and the pores but will also prevent red spots from coming back. It will obviously work better if you use a quality shaving cream as opposed to foam.

4) Styptic pencil or a block of alum is the real deal!

You may disregard its importance for all you want but that doesn’t change the fact that both are extremely handy for nicks and cuts, better than your tissue paper! You can even use a pinch of lip balm. Just dab some on the cut and you’re good to go.

5) You can also substitute baby oil for shaving cream

Only when you’ve completely ran out of both the shaving cream and hair conditioner. Do it in the shower while using lukewarm water. That will open up your pores, soften the tough bristles of your whiskers and give a close shave.

6) You’re better off with short, precise strokes

You must have heard people giving advise like ‘it’s better to make long, continuous strokes from the upper cheek to the bottom of your neck’, but it’s a common misconception. You’re better off with short strokes because it helps you limit irritation and gives you a better control of the gliding movement. It also helps in check the downward pressure you place on your razor while shaving.
