VIRTUAL DATE OUTFIT IDEAS FOR MEN!!

Dress For Zoom Date

Dress up as if you were going on a date. She is looking at everything. Although you’re framed in a silver screen and unattainable, your personality and style should always shine through. Don’t think, like a newsreader you can discard your care below the belt – no Gents, she’ll say something that gets you to move your laptop, or yourself for a brief moment and trust me you don’t want to get caught with your…ahem, pants down. She will be looking for consistency. This is one area that women judge you on. So how you present yourself to her, respectably of course, is going to be scored. Think relaxed or slim fitting long sleeve shirt, collar button, and top button open. Wear a comfortable pair of jeans – as if you were dressing smart casual and do this for the first 3 virtual dates. When you’re ready to meet her, wear the same style of attire. This shows her that you can translate from silver screen to real life.

Rule 1 – Wear something familiar.
In this case, cozy = familiar. Your date is much more interested in you than fashion trends. Rather than running to the store to invest in the latest fad, calm any pre-date anxiety you may have with an outfit that you know and love. You know the one – the outfit that makes you feel confident, energized, present, sexy, and so on.

Rule 2 – Start simple then add a cherry on top.
Especially for a Zoom date, feel free to keep the majority of the outfit comfy and simple – even jeans and a v-neck tee can work! Then add a little pizazz with an accessory. A colorful necklace, shiny earrings, or a scarf can pull an entire outfit together. Just don’t overdo it: as much as I love cherries, just one – ONE – cherry on top!

Rule 3 – Avoid large prints and patterns.
Laptop cameras have a hard time with high-contrast patterns like black and white. Unless it’s a micro-print, the camera might not know what to focus on and it can make the picture fuzzy. In addition, don’t forget that you don’t want to distract your date from having his/her eyes all on you! In general, it’s best to wear solid colors, preferably earth tones.

MEN’S CASUAL TOPS

Bottoms Count

What to Wear on A Zoom Date: Dressing up for your video date as if you were going out on a real date makes a big difference.

Yes, they do. Do you recall the awkward and embarrassing moment at the height of the pandemic in April when Will Reeves, a Good Morning America reporter, was caught wearing shorts below the waste?  If we had coached him for his interview, we could have saved him the embarrassment.

Does this mean you have to dress the whole nine yards? No. It will help if you put some effort into finding a pair of bottoms that will complement your top. Who knows where the virtual date will take you! You may end up dancing to your favourite tunes together or standing up and showing off that fine figure of yours. Or perhaps you may need to stand up and take a quick break. Either way, be prepared by wearing appropriate bottoms.

Know Your Colour

What to Wear on A Zoom Date: The colours you choose on a zoom date are important and carefully chosen based on the mood and impression you want to make.

92% of people in relationships remember what the other person wore on their first date. About two-thirds say it affected how attracted they were to their partner—understanding your colour scheme and which colours look flattering on your skin tone matters. Spice up your look by incorporating colours. We’ve noticed how many of our matchmaking and digital concierge clients see an immediate uptick in swipes and engagements with their online dating profiles when we change their black shirt to a colour that pops.

The most common colours singles typically worn are red, black and blue. These colours are known to be the most flattering and first-date appropriate. Unsure about which colours you want to wear? We suggest you stick with neutrals. Use neutrals such as white, black, grey, or beige tones. Neutral colours flatter everyone and are a great tone to match with almost anything you put on.

Comfort is Key

What to Wear on A Zoom Date: Wearing comfortable and stylish clothes on a zoom date is key to showing up with more confidence.

Playing matchmaker to thousands of singles throughout the years has taught me that singles can get quite nervous on a first date; especially when they choose the wrong outfit or have concerns about their appearance online or offline. The great thing about dressing for a video date is you can still dress for comfort. When you’re not fussing about your date outfit, your confidence shines through. No, this does not mean you can wear your favourite pyjamas. Yes, it does mean you can wear your favourite stretchy trousers. A great way to plan your look is to think “casual dressy”. What would you wear on a coffee or brunch date? Stick with pieces that are not too tight but not too loose. You still want to wear fitted clothing that is proportional to your body type and shape.

That’s all. Thanks for reading!!
